We were recently commissioned by Sport England to produce a short film documenting the story of a boxing club that has been re-generated with the help of a £50,000 grant. Sport England will use the film to encourage clubs of any size to apply for funding through their Inspired Facilities scheme. Having started life thirteen years ago in an old scout hut, Larches and Savick boxing club received funding from various organisations including Sport England, the Amateur Boxing Association and a local building firm to build a brand new facility. Our brief was to speak to the key people at the club and to creatively show the impact of the facility on the community. We answered the brief by filming dynamic boxing footage with ABA Champion Scott Fitzgerald and GB team member Lisa Whiteside and then interviewing key figures from the club, the community and Sport England. The result was a powerful mini-documentary which Sport England will use on their YouTube channel and brand new website.
Richard Wellings, Head of Marketing for Somersault, commented:
“We are very happy to have completed this first project for Sport England. Larches and Savick boxing club were great to work with on the day and we think the finished film will deliver on all of Sport England’s objectives.”
